TutorialsWe are pleased to present a growing collection of free tutorials aimed at helping teachers integrate technology into their classroom. These tutorials are presented as learning modules in MCLA’s course management system, Blackboard Vista. AnnouncementsInstructional Technology Courses Available--Fall 2008It is not too late to enroll in the following courses which lead to a separate certificate issued after the completion of the designated courses. Courses are offered in a hybrid format, and consist of several face-to-face meetings followed by online interaction using Blackboard Vista. For more information about the Certificate Program, consult the Instructional Technology Website. This fall, two courses will be offered in a combination onsite/online format. There willl be four meetings at the Intermodal Education Center in Pittsfield with online requirements between meetings. (In addition to these courses, several additional sections are being offered to individual districts that have arranged for courses to be delivered to their locations. See your local contact person for registration information for these special sections. ITEC 603-01: Teaching and Learning with Technology Instructor, Dr. Sheila Tebbano This class meets from 1 to 4 on the following days: Sept. 13, Oct. 04, Nov. 01, and Dec. 08 In addition to these face-to-face meetings, there will be required online activities. This course prepares teachers to infuse technology in the curriculum. Topics include designing WebQuests, using concept mapping tools, and developing lesson templates using PowerPoint, Word, and/or Excel. You will need the followinng information for your registration form: Course Reference Number: 60356 Section Number: 603-01 ITEC 707-01: Information and Media Literacy Instructor, Dr. Dawn Rodrigues This course focuses on copyright and information literacy issues, including the BIG6 research process. It stresses inquiry and critical thinking and includes an overview of issues and an exploration of classroom practice. This class meets from 9 to 12 on the following days: Sept. 13, Oct. 04, Nov. 01, and Dec. 08 In addition to these face-to-face meetings, there will be required online activities.
